O edif\u00edcio foi constru\u00eddo em 1860 e \u00e9<br>considerada a primeira casa de alvenaria da ent\u00e3o cidade de Louren\u00e7o Marques, actual Cidade de<br>Maputo. \u00c9 de arquitectura indo-portuguesa. Actualmente, a Casa alberga o Museu Nacional da Moeda,<br>administrado pela Universidade Eduardo Mondlane.<\/p>\n<p>O Museu Nacional da Moeda foi criado por ocasi\u00e3o das comemora\u00e7\u00f5es do 1\u00ba Anivers\u00e1rio da cria\u00e7\u00e3o do<br>\u201cMetical\u201d, a moeda nacional mo\u00e7ambicana e foi inaugurado a 15 de Junho de 1981. A sua cria\u00e7\u00e3o insere-<br>se no \u00e2mbito da preserva\u00e7\u00e3o e valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o do patrim\u00f3nio hist\u00f3rico de Mo\u00e7ambique.<\/p>\n<p>O Museu Nacional da Moeda possui um acervo de material que retrata a hist\u00f3ria, n\u00e3o s\u00f3 do pa\u00eds, como<br>da Regi\u00e3o Austral de \u00c1frica, desde h\u00e1 v\u00e1rios s\u00e9culos. Re\u00fane em seu acervo cerca de 4300 moedas, pe\u00e7as<br>monetiformes, notas e medalhas, sendo 1000 referentes a Mo\u00e7ambique.
